ABSTRACT
Innovativeness of employees is a much-desired attribute that can increase organisationalrnperformance. Hence the study investigated the influence of leadership styles on innovativenessrnof librarians in universities in South-west Nigeria. The study adopted the survey researchrndesign. The population comprised 861 librarians in universities in South-West Nigeria. Arnsample size of 273 was determined using Taro Yamane formula and a multistage samplingrntechnique was used to select the respondents. A validated structured questionnaire was usedrnfor data collection. Cronbachs alpha reliability coefficients for the variables ranged from 0.82rnto 0.95. A return rate of 99.2 was achieved. Descriptive and inferential linear and multiplernregression statistics were used to analyse the data. The findings revealed that leadership stylesrnR2 0.034 t 2.943 .185 p 0.05 had a significant influence on librariansrninnovativeness. The study concluded that leadership styles contributed to librariansrninnovativeness in universities in South-West Nigeria. It was recommended that libraryrnmanagement should adopt leadership styles that will bring out innovative attributes in them.
